 is
a photography company created by Scott Randall Coleman.
Scott is a former Sergeant of the United States Marine
Corps, after being injured beyond repair for military
service, retired after over five years active military
duty.
Scott Coleman had been interested in photography for
numerous years before the end of his military service.
Although his first love is the Military and serving was
a dream come true, photography is his passion. After
several years of going to college and learning more
about the art of photography, Scott sustained a major
racing accident at Willow Springs Raceway in March of
2005. The injuries sustained in the crash were life
threatening but he pulled through opening the doors to
his racing photography work to come to life.
Scott's recovery time had taken over a year but during
that time, Scott was able to focus on photography and
learn new and better ways to get the pictures he dreamt
of. The artistic side of photography is his true
passion, to take a picture for something small and make
it seem unreal. On the other hand, Scott has always been
an active athlete and racer. Since he was unable to race
for any longer, the option of racing photography came to
mind. After becoming quite proficient with racing
photography, Scott began buying more equipment to help
build the business and get the shots that people wanted
to see.
Scott met with Stephanie Huth of Willow Springs Raceway
for information on doing photo shoots for the raceway.
With good timing and proof of his great racing
photography, Stephanie offered him the opportunity to
become the official track photographer for Willow
Springs. Beginning with sport bikes, since that is what
he raced, Willow Springs Motor Cycle club has a big
event every month with approximately 18 races and one
big Formula One race for the Toyota 200 event.
Continuing to build his business, Scott began doing
shoots for various racing events with both cars and
motorbikes during the weekends and occasionally during
the week. Scott loves racing but for photography, he
loves all aspects. During the week, he edited photos and
ensured that any sales of photos to racers were of best
quality and editing before ever being viewed by clients.
Although not the most cost effective route, quality of
work is more important.
After becoming busy beyond his time, Scott hired friend
Amber Monroe for sales and editing to free time for more
photography opportunities. Scott branched out to start
working with models for various shots; fashion, black
and white, abstract art, and urban life. His philosophy
is: "there is always a great picture that someone would
normally just walk past, and to capture that view and
show it in a different aspect, that is life"
The name Duke22 was inspired by two things. Duke was the
closest thing to Scott, his dog but his best friend more
than anything, his family growing up. Duke passed after
18 years and will be forever missed. Scott's love for
Duke was his inspiration to dedicate his business name
to him. As well as being inspired by Duke, Scott's love
for sports is a dominant part of his life. Playing
football for numerous years and not being able to play
much due to injuries sustained while in the Marines,
Scott used his Football number 22 to the business name.
These two things that mean a great deal to Scott made
for the name of this company.
